His lips formed words meant for political calculation, yet they became a divine declaration: "It is expedient that one man should die for the people." Without even understanding the depth of what he spoke, he prophesied the very heart of redemption. Just as the high priest once entered the Holy of Holies with the blood of atonement for the nation, so would the Lamb of God enter into the true Holy Place with His own blood, once for all.
