A Small Bird with Big Potential

Eager Bird is a Common Fowl Being from the Hebrew Age, costing 1 faith, with 0 strength and 1 hope. Its ability reads: “Whenever you play an Event, give this Being +1 strength.” A light early play, it becomes increasingly threatening as you cast your Events, turning every turn into a potential power boost.

The Birds Come to Feast

In one of the earliest stories of the Bible, God gave Abram a command: to prepare a sacrifice by dividing the animals. But when he laid them out, something unusual happened. Birds came down on the sacrifices, and He prevented them. They came to consume, yet it wasn’t time to be received. Not yet.

This picture speaks volumes. The offering pointed forward to something far greater: the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In those days, the cross hadn’t come yet, so mankind couldn’t truly consume the offering. They had the image, the types, the shadows, but not the fullness. Just like those birds circling, many wanted to devour the sacrifice without understanding it, like we do after the fulfilling of all things. And so, it was protected, preserved for the right time.

This card's verse is Genesis 15:11:

"And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away."

That moment came when Jesus, the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world, fulfilled the covenant. But the beauty of this story doesn’t stop with birds. After Abram drove them away, God caused him to fall asleep, and something amazing happened: a smoking furnace and a burning lamp passed between those sacrifice. God made the covenant with Himself, an image of the Father and the Son walking through the offering, fulfilling the entire promise. This covenant was all about grace, God doing for man what man could never do.

The Covenant Fulfilled by Grace

Now, the sacrifice has been made. The offering is here, Jesus, crucified and risen. The same sacrifice that saved those before the cross is now visible and available to us. We consume the truth of His body, His blood, and the fullness of grace. What was once concealed is now revealed, and the covenant is no longer a mystery. Through Christ, the doors have opened wide.

Jesus fulfilled the covenant in our place, just as the Lord did for Abram while he slept. There’s no effort left to add. We don’t earn our place through efforts or performance, we receive it through faith. The birds that once hovered in confusion are now at rest, because the feast is ready. The table is set. Grace has made the way.

Believer, the offering is yours to receive. You don’t have to drive the birds away, protect the promise, or figure out the covenant. God has already done it all, Father and Son, through the cross. Rest in that grace. Feast on that truth. And know that you are accepted, not because of what you’ve done, but because of the offering of Jesus, once concealed, now gloriously revealed.

Strategic Use In Gameplay

Eager Bird is a low-cost, snowballing Fowl that grows stronger with every Event you play. For just 1 faith, it starts small but can quickly turn into a powerful threat if left unchecked—especially in decks that chain multiple Events.

Synergies and Plays:

  • Event Synergy: This works beautifully in Event-heavy decks, allowing you to build pressure as you play your removal, draw, or disruption effects.

  • Fowl Tribe: Pairs well with other Fowls that support fast tempo and utility.

  • Snowball Potential: Eager Bird can go from a minor nuisance to a serious challenger in just a few turns, especially when protected or supported by buffs.
