A Leaf of Peace in a World Washed Clean

Hopeful Dove is a Common Fowl Being from the Alpha Age, costing 1 faith, with 1 strength and 1 hope. Though small and simple, this Being carries a message of immense spiritual weight, a sign that judgment has passed, and hope is returning.

A Dove Sent Forth in Hope

In the days after the flood, the world was quiet and washed, but not yet ready. Noah, waiting in faith, sent out a dove to search for life. “And he sent forth a dove… but the dove found no rest…” – Genesis 8:9. It came back empty, no branch, no sign. Then, he sent it again, and this time, “in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off” – Genesis 8:11. Life had begun to bloom again. One more time, the dove was sent, and it never returned. The land was restored.

This pattern happened for Noah, and was also a picture of the Spirit of God. First, the Spirit moved in the world, searching hearts, but none were good, “There is none righteous, no, not one” – Romans 3:10. Then came 400 years of silence, until the Spirit descended again, this time resting upon Jesus at His baptism. “The Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him…” – Luke 3:22.

"And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: [...]"

Jesus became the new hope for all creation, the true olive branch. He lived, died, and rose again. And just like the dove that never came back, the Spirit was poured out once more, at Pentecost. But this time, He stayed. He entered every believer and became our seal unto the day of redemption. “Ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise” – Ephesians 1:13.

The Spirit Who Stays Forever

Jesus did more than rise again, He gave us His Spirit. That same Spirit that moved across the floodwaters now dwells in believers. The dove in Noah’s day pointed to a greater promise, a hope that would not fly away again. The Spirit now abides with us forever, testifying that we are children of God.

He doesn’t leave when we stumble. He doesn’t disappear when storms come. He’s the Comforter, the Teacher, the Power of God living inside those who believe in Jesus. “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever” – John 14:16.

Believer, the Dove has come to stay. You are sealed, you are His, and you are never alone, because you believed in the Gospel that saves. Let the hope that fluttered over the flood now settle deep in your heart. Grace has found you, and the Spirit will never fly away again.
