The Sound That Shook the Walls
Jericho’s Trumpet is a Common Event from the Israel Age, costing only 1 faith and offering a swift impact by giving +2 strength to a target friendly Being for the turn. As simple as it may seem, this one-turn buff can turn the tide of a battle, whether to finish a weakened opponent, secure a crucial trade, or push damage through defensive lines.
The Sound Before the Fall
Jericho’s walls were the pride of the city, thick, impenetrable, built to keep every enemy out. But the Lord’s plan for Israel’s victory was unlike any war strategy known to man. No siege engines. No battering rams. No arrows in the night. Instead, God commanded Joshua and the people to march. Once each day for six days they circled the city in silence, priests leading the way with the ark of the covenant and the trumpets of ram’s horns. On the seventh day, they circled seven times, and at the blast of the trumpets, the people were to shout with a great shout.
At that moment, the impossible happened. The walls fell flat. No cracks, no slow crumble, flat to the ground, as if the hand of God Himself had pressed them down. Israel rushed in, taking the city exactly as the Lord had promised. The victory was not won by Israel’s might, but by their obedience to the voice of the Lord and their faith in His power. The sound of the trumpet became the sound of triumph.
This card's verse is Joshua 6:20:
"So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, [...]"
Jericho’s fall was not simply the beginning of Israel’s conquest of the land, it was the unveiling of a greater plan. Every step, every trumpet blast, every shout was a picture of a day still to come, when the trumpet of God will sound, and another wall, the wall between heaven and earth, will fall away forever.

The Trumpet of Christ
Paul writes that the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God. The story of Jericho points forward to that day. Just as the walls of a fortified city fell at the trumpet’s sound, the walls of death and the grave will collapse when Jesus calls His people home. One moment we will be here, the next, we will be with Him.
In that instant, the long march of faith will end. Just as Israel followed the ark around Jericho, we follow the presence of Christ in our lives, sometimes circling what feels impossible, waiting for the command to shout. And when that command comes, the victory will be complete. Every barrier, every obstacle, every shadow will be gone.
Believer, the trumpet is for you. It will not be a sound of fear, but of joy. It will call you upward, into the presence of the One who has already won every battle on your behalf. The walls around your life’s Jericho are already marked for collapse. Stand, march, trust, and when the trumpet sounds, shout with all your heart. The victory is already written.
