He Shall So Come
Promised Return is a 3-cost Church Event that provides immediate impact by making your opponent lose 3 points and letting you draw a verse. It combines direct point pressure with resource gain, offering both tempo and value.
The Promise of His Coming
The angels spoke with clarity, their words echoing through the ages: this same Jesus will return. The eyes that saw Him ascend would one day see Him descend. The glory that carried Him into the clouds will bring Him back in majesty. His return is not a question, it is a divine certainty. Just as the prophets declared His first coming in Bethlehem, so the Word of God declares His return with power.
Paul, given revelation by the Spirit, unveiled the hidden mystery. The Lord will descend with a shout, and in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, the dead in Christ will rise, and we who are alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds. This is the blessed hope, the Bridegroom coming to gather His bride. It will be sudden, beautiful, and filled with the sound of victory.
This card's verse is Acts 1:11:
"Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."
But the story does not end in the air. The Lamb who took away the sins of the world will return with His saints in radiant glory. The heavens will open, and He will ride forth in righteousness to judge and to make war. Every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess. The same feet that walked the shores of Galilee will stand on the Mount of Olives again, and the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.

The Final Victory
After the marriage of the Lamb, His bride will return with Him to the battle of Armageddon. The armies of the world will gather, but the Word from His mouth will strike them down. This is the end of Jacob’s trouble, the fulfillment of every promise to Israel, and the dawning of the Millennial reign. The King of kings will sit on His throne in Jerusalem, and the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
The prophets saw glimpses of this day, but we live in the time when its signs are forming. The Spirit testifies within believers, and the Scriptures point us forward. We do not look to the world for stability, we look to the skies, awaiting the One who is faithful and true. Our hope is living because our Savior is alive forevermore. Every prophecy stands, every word will come to pass.
Believer, our hearts rest in the unshakable truth that we belong to the returning King. We are His bride, clothed in His righteousness, sealed with His Spirit, and destined for glory. We will hear His voice, we will see His face, and we will reign with Him. Until that day, we live in joyful expectation, proclaiming the gospel of grace, knowing that our redemption draws near and our Bridegroom is coming quickly.
Strategic Use In Gameplay
The card is simple in effect but deep in utility, particularly in control and combo-based builds. While the raw power of a 3-point reduction can stand alone, it’s the synergy with draw mechanics and control decks that really unlocks this card’s full potential. Promised Return is a proactive tool to chip away at your opponent’s game plan while building your own.
Synergies and Plays:
Slow Down Opponents: Against rush or aggressive decks, this event forces them to push harder or lose steam, especially if they rely on tight point margins.
Resource: The extra verse draw keeps your hand full, especially valuable in decks looking to assemble key combos or maintain answers.
Control Combo Decks: Plays beautifully in slower decks that need time to build up powerful interactions or finishers. The point reduction helps create a window of safety while progressing your game plan.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can this be used to finish a game if my opponent is 3 points from winning?
A: No. The 3-point loss will slow down your opponent, now having to gain twice as many points to win.
Q: Does drawing a verse always happen after point reduction?
A: Correct. You always reduce the opponent’s points first, then draw your verse.
Q: How many copies of this should I run in a control deck?
A: Typically 2 or 3, depending on how aggressive the meta is and how much value you place on verse cycling.
