When God Walked in the Garden

Terrible Reckoning is a Common Event from the Alpha Age, costing 4 faith. When played, it deals 3 damage to target two lowest hope enemy Beings, targeting the most fragile parts of the enemy's field with sudden, divine force.

Shame and Guilt has Entered the Garden

In the cool of the day, God walked in the Garden of Eden, but this time, Adam and Eve were hiding. Sin had entered, and with it came shame. They had disobeyed the one command, taken the forbidden fruit, and now found themselves exposed. Their solution? Fig leaves, stitched by their own hands in a desperate attempt to cover what they had done.

Yet the Lord knew what they had done. The first reckoning had come. Sin couldn’t be covered by effort or invention. The knowledge of good and evil didn’t give them power, it brought guilt and fear. “I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” – Genesis 3:10. Humanity’s very first instinct after sin was to run, to hide, and to try to fix it. But grace was already on the move.

This card's verse is Genesis 3:8:

"And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden."

God provided something far greater. He made them coats of skins, a covering not from the trees, but from a living creature. Blood had been shed. “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” – Genesis 3:21. A shadow of what was to come. God was teaching them something eternal: only the shedding of blood could forgive sin.

The Blood Covering, Christ Our Righteousness

That terrible reckoning in the Garden was a prophecy dressed in grace. From the very beginning, God revealed His heart, to clothe, to cover, to redeem. Every coat of skin whispered of a better covering. Every lamb offered on an altar foreshadowed the Lamb of God who would one day take away the sin of the world.

Jesus, the spotless Lamb, bore the full weight of sin’s reckoning. He didn’t hide. He didn’t sow fig leaves. He stood in our place and gave His life. “Without shedding of blood is no remission.” – Hebrews 9:22. The blood that fell on Calvary wasn’t from man’s effort, it was heaven’s offering. God Himself provided the covering, once and for all.

Believer, you are not hidden behind leaves, you are covered in the blood of Jesus. The reckoning that fell on Him has given you peace. You don’t need to run. You don’t need to hide. The Lamb has died, the debt is paid, and grace is yours. Stand clothed in His righteousness, and walk boldly in His love.
