The Bible Story Behind Behold The Pavement
The king of Babylon believed that the idol Bel was a living god because enormous quantities of food and wine disappeared from its temple every night. Seventy priests assured him that Bel consumed the offerings, while Daniel refused to worship an image made with hands. Behold The Pavement presents Daniel uncovering the secret by which the priests maintained their profitable deception.
After the offerings were placed before Bel, Daniel ordered ashes to be scattered across the temple floor. The doors were then shut and sealed with the king's own signet. During the night, the priests entered through a concealed passage with their wives and children, consumed the food, drank the wine, and departed while believing that their hidden entrance would protect them.

The untouched seals initially appeared to confirm the priests' story, but the pavement revealed what the sealed doors concealed.
