Genesis Set Card 3/250

Soaring Eagle is a Common Fowl Being from the Stars Age, costing 1 Faith with 1 Strength, 1 Hope, 2 Reach, and 1 Move. Its Prophecy Ability Restores 1 Hope to Target Friendly Being when it's Created, making it a useful support Being.

The Bible Story Behind Soaring Eagle

Soaring Eagle draws its meaning from Isaiah's image of renewed strength. The chapter speaks to Jacob and Israel in their weariness, answering the fear that their way has been hidden from God. The everlasting Creator neither faints nor grows weary, and He gives power to those who have none.

The card's upward flight follows that promise. It should be distinguished from Aquila in E. W. Bullinger's constellation interpretation, where the eagle is wounded and falling. Bible TCG's soaring eagle is an illustration of Isaiah 40:31, rather than a claim that the traditional Aquila figure is ascending. The related Rising Dolphin entry carries the rising image within that older arrangement.

Isaiah 40:31 — “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Isaiah contrasts the exhaustion of even the young and strong with the strength supplied by the LORD. Mounting up, running, and walking together express His ability to sustain His people. This promise isn't a claim that believers will never become physically tired or suffer; it places confidence in the unfailing God addressed throughout the chapter.

The resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ give the believer a greater foundation for hope than natural strength. He bore our sins, truly died, and rose never to die again. The risen Savior is the living Head of His church, whose future rests in His power rather than in the body's present limitations.

Soaring Eagle Bible TCG Strategy

Soaring Eagle is a flexible support Being that brings value as soon as it enters the Storyline. Its Prophecy Ability can Restore 1 Hope to a Friendly Being, helping damaged Beings survive longer. Because it has 2 Reach, Soaring Eagle can also threaten more than the Slot directly in front of it, giving it more flexibility than many early Beings.

Synergies

  • Restore synergy: If Soaring Eagle actually removes Damage, that Restoration can trigger Nicodemus, Born Again. His resulting bonus waits in the Queue.

  • Sustaining key Beings: Soaring Eagle can help keep important Friendly Beings alive, especially Beings with Protect, Pray, or other valuable Abilities.

  • Early Game support: Soaring Eagle can help you keep tempo by Restoring a Friendly Being while also adding another Being to the Storyline.

Questions and Answers

Q: Can Soaring Eagle increase a Being above its normal Hope?

A: No. Restore removes existing Damage. If the Target has only 1 Damage, Soaring Eagle can remove that Damage, but it doesn't give the Being an additional +1 Hope.

Q: What happens if Soaring Eagle fully Restores a Being whose Patience is active?

A: Once that Being has no Damage remaining, it's no longer damaged and its Patience stops applying. This means Restoration can save a Being while also turning off a bonus that depended on it remaining damaged.

Q: Can I Target one of my own Beings with Darkness before it has Interacted?

A: No. Active Darkness prevents Targeting by every Player, including the Being's Controller. You must choose another legal Target or skip the connected Targeted step if none exists. Non-Targeting effects can still affect a Being with Darkness.

Q: If Soaring Eagle Restores a Being and is Humbled afterward, does the Damage come back?

A: No. The Restoration already finished resolving. Humble doesn't reverse a completed effect.

Q: When might Restoring only 1 Hope make the difference between winning and losing a Challenge?

A: Damage remains on Beings between Turns, so removing even 1 Damage can change whether a later Challenge reduces that Being's Current Hope to 0 or less. Soaring Eagle helps when that single point moves an important Being outside your Opponent's expected Damage range.
