Wrath Of Esau is a Common Event from the Hebrew Age, costing 4 Faith. It deals 2 Damage to two Target Enemy Beings with the lowest Strength and Gives them Fear.

The Bible Story Behind Wrath Of Esau

After Jacob received the blessing Isaac had intended for Esau, Esau's grief hardened into hatred. He had earlier sold his birthright for a meal, and now deception had cost him the blessing he expected from his father. Instead of reconciliation, Genesis records his inward resolve to kill Jacob. The account exposes that murderous intention without requiring us to reconstruct every part of Esau's spiritual condition.

Esau waited for the death of his father, believing that once the days of mourning had passed he could kill Jacob without restraint. His wrath forced Jacob to flee from home and remain separated from his family for many years. Wrath Of Esau therefore presents the flesh rising against the line through which God had chosen to continue His promise.

Genesis 27:41 — “[...] and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.”

Esau's words exposed a murderous intention within his heart. The hatred was already real, although his plan to kill Jacob wasn't carried out. His anger shows how quickly disappointment can become bitterness when the heart refuses to submit to God. Uncontrolled wrath seeks to destroy what it believes has taken away its blessing.

Jesus Christ also became the object of hatred from those who believed His presence threatened their place and authority. Religious leaders envied Him, rejected His claim, and conspired to put Him to death. Yet their wrath couldn't remove Him from the purpose of God. The rejected Son was the true Heir through whom every promise would be fulfilled.

At the cross, Jesus endured both the cruelty of men and the righteous judgment against our sins. He didn't answer hatred with hatred, but gave Himself in obedience to the Father. Christ fulfilled the law, bore its curse, and rose again so that the church could receive forgiveness, peace, and an inheritance secured entirely by grace.

Wrath Of Esau Bible TCG Strategy

Wrath Of Esau is a control Event that punishes smaller Enemy Beings while also stopping them from Interacting. It's especially useful against Enemy Storylines with low-Strength support Beings or small attackers. The Damage can help Exile weakened Beings, while Fear prevents each surviving Target from Moving or Challenging through the end of that Being's Owner's next Turn.

Synergies

  • Low-Strength Control: Wrath Of Esau Targets Enemy Beings with the lowest Strength.

  • Damage And Fear: It combines Damage with Fear, giving both removal pressure and tempo control.

  • Pray Synergy: Since Wrath Of Esau is an Event that deals Damage, Beings with Pray can increase its Damage.

Questions and Answers

Q: Do I use Printed Strength or Current Strength to determine the two lowest-Strength Beings?

A: Use Current Strength, including active bonuses and reductions, among legal Enemy Targets. Select up to two distinct Beings with the lowest values: with 1, 3, and 5, select 1 and 3; with 1, 1, and 3, select both 1s. If only one legal Being exists, select it once.

Q: What if one of the lowest-Strength Beings is protected by Darkness?

A: Because Wrath Of Esau Targets its two Beings, a Darkness Being that can't currently be Targeted isn't a legal Target.

Q: If Sarah's Pray +2 is active, how much Damage does each Target take?

A: Each Target takes 4 Damage.

Q: What if the Damage Exiles one Target but the other survives?

A: Apply the Damage and Fear to the selected Targets before the Checkpoint. Then Exile any Being at 0 Hope or less. A remaining Feared Being can't Interact through the end of its Owner's next Turn, but can still Block.

Q: Does the surviving Feared Being still Block?

A: Yes. Fear prevents Interaction, not Blocking.
