Seductive Dominion

Babylon, Mystery Harlot costs 5 Faith and is a Woman Being from the Wrath Age with an overwhelming 7 Strength and 2 Hope, bolstered by Zeal and the hefty cost of Forsake two verses, meaning you must discard two verses from your hand to play her. This creates a dramatic tempo spike, at the cost of valuable resources, putting her squarely in the domain of aggressive and all-in strategies.

The Rise of the Mystery Harlot

From the ancient plains of Shinar to the future stage of global dominion, Babylon’s spirit has never faded. In the last days, she will sit enthroned on seven hills, clothed in scarlet and purple, adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls. Her influence will stretch across politics, religion, and economy, uniting the nations under a deceptive banner of peace. Yet her beauty will hide a heart drunk with the blood of the saints, for she will be the mother of harlots and the abominations of the earth. Her reach will be global, her alliances many, and her pride unmatched.

Her roots run deep, back to Nimrod’s rebellion, where the first Babylon rose in defiance of God. The same rebellion will flourish again, this time dressed in religious splendor, a counterfeit church system ruling over kings. She will dominate before the seven-year covenant, commanding loyalty from nations and persecuting the servants of the 7 churches of Revelation. Then, her voice will lead multitudes to accept the Man of Sin, and then worship the beast, and she will pioneer the executions of those who stand firm in truth, beheading all who refuse the mark. The world will see her as unshakable, but her end will come suddenly.

This card's verse is Revelation 17:5:

"And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."

The prophets have spoken of her for centuries. Jeremiah foretold her destruction, Isaiah mocked her false glory, and John was shown her judgment in vivid vision. She is the same spirit that opposed Daniel’s people, that crushed the prophets, that crucified the Lord of glory through the hands of wicked rulers. Babylon is the system of man’s pride, a power that exalts itself against the true King, and in the last days she will have her final moment before being utterly cast down.

Her Fall and the Kings’ Betrayal

God Himself will put His plan into the hearts of the kings of the earth. These same rulers who once served her will turn against her with violence, burning her with fire and stripping her of her power in a single day. Her merchants will weep, her allies will flee, and her wealth will vanish into smoke. The nations will marvel at how quickly the great city falls, for strong is the Lord God who judges her. Her destruction will make way for the final gathering at Armageddon, where the beast and the kings will face the King of kings.

Her end will be a testimony to the justice of God. Every drop of blood she shed will be avenged. Every prophet, every apostle, every martyr who suffered at her hands will be vindicated. Heaven will rejoice at her ruin, for her fall means the rise of the eternal kingdom. Just as the walls of Jericho fell before Israel entered the land, so Babylon will crumble before the King returns in glory. Her beauty will be exposed as corruption, her wealth as dust, and her influence as fleeting shadow.

Believer, we will not see these days. We live in the time of revealed grace, where righteousness is ours by faith in Christ alone. As Paul assured the Thessalonians, "God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" - 1 Thessalonians 5:9. We are already sealed, already redeemed, already seated with Christ in heavenly places. Babylon’s rise and fall are part of a time beyond our calling, for our hope is the blessed hope, the appearing of our Lord to gather His bride. We stand secure in His finished work, rejoicing in the grace that has delivered us from the judgment to come.

Strategic Use In Gameplay

Babylon, Mystery Harlot is an explosive, high-risk, high-reward card that thrives in aggressive builds. With Zeal, she can Challenge immediately, often eliminating an opposing Being the moment she arrives. Her cost, discarding two verses, demands that you’re ahead or ready to press a game-ending advantage when you play her.

Synergies and Plays:

  • Immediate Threat: Her Zeal lets her impact the board the same turn, potentially removing a threat or forcing pressure on your opponent’s Hope pool.

  • Resource Sacrifice: Forsaking two verses is a steep cost, so include cards that generate verses or can be discarded with minimal consequence.

  • Overwhelming Strength: 7 Strength allows her to challenge and remove nearly anything in her path, making her ideal for trading up or swinging directly for heavy damage.
