Genesis Set Card 179/250

Celestial Wonder is an Uncommon Woman Being from the Wrath Age, costing 1 Faith with 0 Strength, 1 Hope, 0 Reach, and 0 Move. She has Darkness. At your End of Turn, she Gives another Target Friendly Being +1 Hope.

The Bible Story Behind Celestial Wonder

Revelation 12 opens with a great wonder in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, the moon beneath her feet, and a crown of twelve stars. This imagery recalls Joseph's dream of the sun, moon, and eleven stars and points to Israel, the nation formed from Jacob and his twelve sons. The woman isn't the church, because her identity and history are rooted in Israel's prophetic story.

The woman is shown travailing to bring forth a male child who is destined to rule all nations with a rod of iron. That child is Jesus Christ, who came according to the flesh through Israel, was opposed by Satan from His birth, and later ascended to God. Celestial Wonder therefore presents Israel's suffering connection to the coming of her Messiah and the conflict surrounding God's promised King.

Revelation 12:2 — “And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.”

The travail represents more than the physical suffering surrounding one birth. Israel's history involved oppression, persecution, and repeated attacks from the enemy who sought to prevent God's promises from reaching their fulfillment in Christ. Revelation gathers that long conflict into one heavenly sign and carries it forward into Israel's future distress during Daniel's final week, when the dragon will again seek her destruction.

Jesus came first in humility, born of a woman and made under the law, yet He was always the promised King. Satan worked through earthly rulers to destroy Him, but no power could prevent Christ from completing the work appointed by the Father. He died for sins, was buried, rose again, and ascended to heaven, where He now awaits the appointed time to claim His earthly kingdom.

During the wrath Age, Israel will again experience travail as the beast rises, the dragon persecutes the remnant, and the nations gather against Jerusalem. These events won't mean that Satan has defeated God's plan. They'll be the final birth pains before Israel beholds her returning Messiah and Jesus establishes the righteous kingdom promised throughout the prophets.

Celestial Wonder Bible TCG Strategy

Celestial Wonder is a small support Being that helps your Storyline grow over time. Darkness means she can't Block or be Targeted by any Player before she Interacts, while her End of Turn Ability Gives another Friendly Being +1 Hope. Because she has 0 Strength, 0 Reach, and 0 Move, she isn't meant for normal Challenges or Movement. Her value comes from staying on the Storyline and supporting other Friendly Beings.

Synergies

  • End of Turn support: Celestial Wonder Gives another Target Friendly Being +1 Hope at your End of Turn.

  • Darkness protection: Celestial Wonder can't Block or be Targeted by any Player before she Interacts.

  • Group support: Light In The Darkness can Give Celestial Wonder extra Strength without Targeting it. A group effect can reach a Being protected by Darkness.

Questions and Answers

Q: Since Celestial Wonder has 0 Move and 0 Reach, can her Darkness protection potentially remain active for a very long time?

A: Yes. She has no natural way to Move or Challenge, so without another effect changing that, she may never Interact and therefore remain protected from Targeting by any Player.

Q: What is the downside of keeping Celestial Wonder in that protected state?

A: Darkness also prevents her from Blocking before she Interacts, so she can remain a safe support Being without helping defend her lane.

Q: Does the +1 Hope she gives at End of Turn count as Restoration?

A: No. She Gives +1 Hope rather than Restoring Hope, so it can increase a Being beyond its Printed Hope and doesn't activate Restoration-based effects.

Q: Can her End of Turn Ability keep adding Hope to the same Friendly Being over several Turns?

A: Yes, at each of your own Ends of Turn while her Ability is active. Choose another legal Friendly Being when the queued Ability resolves. She can't Target herself or any Being with active Darkness, even one you control.

Q: What happens if another effect gives Celestial Wonder enough Move to Interact?

A: If a legal effect increases her Move and she is allowed to Interact, Moving ends her Darkness protection and permits normal Targeting and Blocking. A Targeted buff can't select her while Darkness is active; an applicable non-Targeting effect can.
