Genesis Set Card 147/250
Chastising Stripes is a Common Event from the Gospel Age, costing 6 Faith. It deals 5 Damage to Target Enemy Being, and that Being's Owner loses 5 points.
The Bible Story Behind Chastising Stripes
Before Jesus was led to the cross, Pilate ordered Him to be scourged. Roman soldiers struck the sinless Son of God, tore His flesh, mocked His kingship, and treated Him as though He were a condemned criminal. The punishment was real and undeserved, for Pilate had repeatedly declared that he found no fault in Jesus.
Christ didn't suffer because of wrongdoing within Himself. He willingly continued toward Calvary as the spotless Lamb who would carry the guilt of others. Chastising Stripes therefore presents the righteous Savior accepting suffering and judgment in the place of sinful mankind.
1 Peter 2:24 — “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Jesus personally carried our sins in His body upon the cross rather than merely sharing our pain from a distance. Peter's words describe sinners healed from the deadly wound of sin and returned to the Shepherd of their souls. The stripes of Christ secured forgiveness, reconciliation, and spiritual restoration, while the complete redemption of our bodies awaits the resurrection.
The law exposed mankind's guilt and pronounced judgment upon sin, but Jesus possessed the perfect righteousness the law required. He took our place beneath its curse and shed His blood to satisfy its just sentence. God didn't overlook our sins; He judged them fully in the willing sacrifice of His Son.
Christ died, was buried, and rose again the third day, proving that sin's payment had been completed. Those who believe aren't only forgiven but also made dead to sin's condemnation and free to live to righteousness through the Holy Spirit.

Chastising Stripes Bible TCG Strategy
Chastising Stripes combines removal pressure with point loss. The 5 Damage can Exile many Enemy Beings or severely weaken a larger one, while the Owner of that Being also loses 5 points. Because the point loss isn't Damage, it doesn't cause Bible Point gain.
Synergies
Targeted Damage: Chastising Stripes deals 5 Damage to Target Enemy Being.
Point pressure: The Owner of that Being loses 5 points.
Pray synergy: Since Chastising Stripes is an Event that deals Damage, Beings with Pray can increase its Damage.

Questions and Answers
Q: If Crowing Rooster and Solomon are both active, how much Damage does Chastising Stripes deal?
A: Their Pray values combine for +3, increasing the Event from 5 Damage to 8.
Q: Does that increased Damage also increase the 5 point loss?
A: No. Pray only increases Event Damage. The Being's Owner still loses exactly 5 points.
Q: What happens if Eternal prevents all the Damage?
A: Eternal prevents the Damage, but the connected instruction still makes the Being's Owner lose 5 points before the Checkpoint. Prevention doesn't invalidate a legal Target or cancel the other instruction.
Q: What if Anointing ignores the 5 Damage?
A: The Being avoids that Damage instance, but its Owner still loses the 5 points.
Q: If the Damage is lethal, when does the Owner lose 5 points?
A: Yes. Deal the Damage and make the Being's Owner lose 5 points before the Checkpoint. Then apply Hope-based Exile and Game-ending conditions. Resurrect and other resulting triggers resolve later if the Game continues.
