Genesis Set Card 101/250

David's Cattle is a Common Cattle Being from the Israel Age, costing 1 Faith with 1 Strength, 1 Hope, 1 Reach, and 3 Move. It has no Ability, but it can also be Created by Flock Sheep.

The Bible Story Behind David's Cattle

Before David became Israel's king, he served his father by caring for the family's sheep near Bethlehem. This humble responsibility trained him to watch, protect, guide, and provide for creatures that depended upon him. The future ruler of Israel first learned leadership while faithfully tending a flock far from the attention of men.

When Jesse sent David to carry food to his brothers at Israel's camp, David didn't abandon the sheep carelessly. He rose early and left them with a keeper before traveling to the battlefield. David's Cattle therefore presents the shepherd's responsibility continuing even when he was called away to fulfill another assignment.

1 Samuel 17:20 — “And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.”

David arrived with provisions and heard Goliath defying the armies of Israel and the living God. The shepherd who had protected his sheep from the lion and bear was now prepared to defend the honor of the LORD before an entire nation. His faithfulness in the pasture had quietly prepared him for victory in the valley.

David's care for his father's flock offers an illustrative parallel with Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd sent by the Father. Jesus didn't merely protect His sheep from a distance; He entered the world, called them by name, and laid down His own life so they might be saved.

David left his sheep with another keeper for a time, but Jesus never abandons those who belong to Him. After dying for our sins and rising again, He ascended to the Father while sending the Holy Ghost to dwell within the church. The Savior remains the Head and Shepherd of His people, preserving them through His Spirit and continual intercession.

David's Cattle Bible TCG Strategy

David's Cattle is a simple low-Cost Cattle Being that helps establish early Storyline presence. Its Stats are small, but 3 Move gives it enough flexibility to reposition, Block, or support Cattle-based strategies. David's Cattle can also be Created as a Token by Flock Sheep, making it useful in Decks that want to build a wider Storyline with multiple Cattle.

Questions and Answers

Q: What happens if a David's Cattle Token is beside both Passover Offering and Tender Calf?

A: It can receive +1 Strength from Passover Offering and +1 Hope from Tender Calf at the same time because it's an eligible adjacent Cattle for both ongoing Abilities.

Q: Can Lost Lamb and Hungry Cattle also strengthen a David's Cattle Token?

A: Yes. While the Token is on the Storyline, it's a Friendly Cattle and qualifies for applicable Cattle-wide effects.

Q: If David's Cattle Moves away from an adjacent Cattle bonus, does it keep that bonus?

A: No. An ongoing adjacency effect only applies while David's Cattle remains adjacent to its source. Once it Moves away, recalculate its Stats without that bonus.

Q: David's Cattle has 3 Move. Can it Move two Slots while passing through one Friendly Being?

A: Yes. Moving two Slots costs 2 Move, and passing through the Friendly Being costs 1 additional Move, using all 3.

Q: What happens if a David's Cattle Token is Humbled while receiving passive bonuses from Lost Lamb and Hungry Cattle?

A: Humbling the Token doesn't cancel ongoing Abilities coming from those other active Beings. It continues receiving their applicable passive bonuses.
