Genesis Set Card 244/250
Hot Thunderbolts is a Common Event from the Apocrypha, costing 5 Faith. It deals 5 Damage to Target Enemy Being and 1 Damage to all other Enemy Beings.
The Bible Story Behind Hot Thunderbolts
Wisdom of Solomon describes the Lord arming creation against the wicked when the righteous are finally vindicated. Those who once trusted in pride and persecuted God's people discover that the natural world itself remains under His command. Hot Thunderbolts presents lightning flying from the clouds like arrows released from a carefully drawn bow.
The thunderbolts are described as "right-aiming" because divine judgment is never careless or uncontrolled. Human weapons can miss their targets, harm the innocent, or be used unjustly, but the Lord possesses perfect knowledge of every heart and action. When He sends judgment, His power reaches exactly where His righteousness directs it.
Wisdom of Solomon 5:21 — “Then shal the right-aiming thunder bolts goe abroad, and from the cloudes, as from a well-drawen bow, shall they flie to the marke.”

The clouds become like a drawn bow, while the thunderbolts become arrows flying toward their appointed mark. This image transforms the sky into an instrument of divine warfare and stresses that creation doesn't operate independently from its Creator. The lightning answers God's command, and no enemy can hide from the judgment He sends with perfect precision.
Scripture repeatedly connects thunder, lightning, and heavenly fire with the presence and judgment of God. Yet when Jesus Christ came into the world, He didn't immediately direct destruction toward sinful mankind. He willingly placed Himself beneath the judgment our sins deserved and endured the full righteous sentence of God upon the cross.
The judgment that fell upon Christ wasn't mistaken or accidental. Jesus knew no sin, yet He voluntarily became the sacrifice for sinners, shed His blood, died, and rose again. Everyone who believes is justified freely through His finished work, while those who reject Him remain accountable before the Judge. The cross proves that God's judgment is perfectly righteous and that His mercy is offered at an immeasurable cost.

Hot Thunderbolts Bible TCG Strategy
Hot Thunderbolts combines strong single-Target Damage with Storyline-wide pressure. The main Target takes 5 Damage, while every other Enemy Being takes 1 Damage. Only the first Enemy Being is Targeted. The Damage to all other Enemy Beings doesn't Target them, allowing the additional Damage to affect Beings with Darkness. The non-Targeting Damage depends on selecting a legal primary Target for the connected sentence. If all Enemy Beings have active Darkness, you may Play the Event but neither Damage portion happens.
Synergies
Single-Target removal: The 5 Damage can Exile a major threat or leave it vulnerable to a Challenge.
Storyline-wide Damage: The additional Damage can weaken several Enemy Beings or finish off Beings that are already damaged.
Pray strategy: Pray increases both amounts of Event Damage.
Questions and Answers
Q: Can I Play Hot Thunderbolts if there is no legal Enemy Being to Target?
A: Yes, if normal Play requirements are met, but its entire connected Damage sentence does nothing. You still pay for and Play the Event. Without the required primary Target, the “and” portion can't independently deal Damage.
Q: Can the additional Damage affect Beings with Darkness?
A: Yes, provided there is a legal primary Enemy Being. That Being takes the primary Damage; all other Enemy Beings take the non-Targeting Damage, including those with Darkness. If every Enemy Being has active Darkness, there is no legal primary Target and neither portion happens.
Q: Does the primary Target take Damage before the others?
A: No. Assign 5 Damage to the primary Target and 1 to each other Enemy Being, then apply the Damage at the same time. Perform the Checkpoint after the connected sentence; triggered Abilities wait until the Event finishes.
Q: What happens with Pray +3?
A: The primary Damage is 8 and the other Damage is 4 to each other Enemy Being. Prevention applies separately to each Being.
Q: Does prevention on the primary Target cancel Damage to the others?
A: No. The requirement is a legal Target, not successful Damage. Eternal or Anointing can prevent its Damage while the other Enemy Beings still take their assigned Damage.
