Genesis Set Card 243/250

Royal Elephant is a Common Beast Being from the Apocrypha, costing 4 Faith with 4 Strength, 4 Hope, 2 Reach, and 5 Move. Whenever you Draw a Verse, Exile four Verses from the top of Target Opponent's Bible.

The Bible Story Behind Royal Elephant

During the Maccabean conflict, the army of Antiochus Eupator advanced with heavily armed soldiers, cavalry, and war elephants prepared for battle. The elephants carried wooden towers filled with fighting men and created fear wherever they moved. Royal Elephant presents one of these enormous beasts at the moment Eleazar entered beneath it and struck upward in an attempt to change the course of the battle.

Eleazar, called Avaran, saw an elephant decorated with royal armor and believed that the king himself might be riding upon it. Hoping to deliver his people and gain an enduring name, he fought through the enemy ranks and reached the animal. He accepted extraordinary personal danger because destroying the royal elephant appeared capable of breaking the enemy's confidence.

1 Maccabees 6:46 — “Which done, he crept vnder the Elephant, and thrust him vnder and slew him: whereupon the Elephant fell downe vpon him, and there he died.”

Eleazar succeeded in killing the beast, but its immense weight fell upon him and ended his life. His courage was undeniable, yet the account also carries a solemn irony: the victory he pursued through his own death didn't by itself decide the battle or secure Israel's complete deliverance. The fallen elephant became both the evidence of his bravery and the instrument through which his life was taken.

Eleazar's death may remind us of sacrifice, but it must not be confused with the saving death of Jesus Christ. Eleazar acted upon the belief that destroying a royal target might rescue his people, whereas Jesus knew perfectly that His voluntary death would accomplish the redemption appointed by the Father. Christ didn't die beneath an enemy He had barely overcome; He deliberately laid down His life and rose with complete victory over sin and death.

At the cross, Jesus appeared crushed beneath the power of rulers, soldiers, and the grave. Yet no circumstance took His life against His will. He bore the sins of the world, satisfied divine justice, and emerged from the tomb never to die again. His sacrifice didn't merely inspire courage or create an opportunity for deliverance; it fully purchased salvation for everyone who believes.

Royal Elephant Bible TCG Strategy

Royal Elephant turns your card Draw into heavy Bible pressure. Your normal Draw Step activates it, and every additional Draw can Exile another four Verses. With balanced 4 Strength and 4 Hope, Royal Elephant can also fight on the Storyline while its 5 Move helps it reposition. Even one extra Draw effect can make its Bible pressure grow very quickly.

Each successful Draw records a separate Royal Elephant trigger. Finish a multi-Draw instruction and its Ability before resolving them. When an Elephant trigger creates further triggers, append those behind all items already waiting; never insert them ahead of an older item.

Synergies

  • Additional Draws: Every extra Verse you Draw Creates another Bible Exile activation.

  • Draw engine strategy: Repeated Draw Abilities can remove large portions of the Opponent's Bible over several Turns.

  • Control and pressure: Royal Elephant can Challenge and Block while also creating value whenever you Draw a Verse.

Questions and Answers

Q: What happens if Voice Of Creation lets me Draw two Verses while Royal Elephant is active?

A: Royal Elephant activates twice, potentially Exiling eight Verses from the top of Target Opponent's Bible.

Q: What happens if I control two Royal Elephants and Draw one Verse?

A: Both Elephants activate from that Draw, potentially Exiling four Verses each for eight total.

Q: If Royal Elephant enters the Storyline after my normal Draw Step, does it activate for the Verse I already Drew?

A: No. Royal Elephant wasn't active when that Draw happened. It only activates from Draws that occur while its Ability is active on the Storyline.

Q: What happens if Royal Elephant tries to Exile four Verses but the Target Opponent has only two remaining?

A: Exile the two available Verses. Their Bible becomes empty, but they don't lose until they later need to Draw.

Q: Does Royal Elephant need to Challenge to pressure the Opponent's Bible?

A: No. Its Bible pressure is completely separate from its normal Challenge Abilities, allowing it to generate value even while staying in a defensive position.
