The Bible Story Behind Ishmael Mocking
Ishmael and Isaac were born to Abraham through very different circumstances. Ishmael was born after Abraham and Sarah attempted to obtain the promised heir through Hagar, while Isaac was born years later by the supernatural faithfulness of God. When Isaac was weaned and Abraham made a great feast, Sarah saw Ishmael mocking the child through whom the covenant promise would continue.
The mocking revealed more than ordinary conflict between brothers. Ishmael was older and stronger, yet the inheritance didn't belong to him merely because he came first according to the flesh. God had declared that His covenant would be established through Isaac. Ishmael Mocking therefore presents the flesh resisting and despising what God had brought forth by promise.
Genesis 21:9 — “And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.”
Ishmael's behavior brought the division within Abraham's household into the open. God still cared for Ishmael and promised to make a nation of him, but he wouldn't inherit the covenant place appointed to Isaac. The passage shows that human effort can't seize an inheritance that God has chosen to give according to His promise.
The apostle Paul uses Hagar and Sarah to illustrate the difference between bondage and liberty. Hagar answers to Mount Sinai and the covenant that brought Israel beneath the law, while Sarah represents the freewoman and the promise of God. Like Isaac, believers are children of promise, made free through what God has accomplished rather than through the works of the flesh.
Jesus Christ is the promised seed of Abraham in whom the blessing reaches the nations. He was made under the law, fulfilled it perfectly, and redeemed us from its curse through His death upon the cross. The church doesn't inherit through natural descent, circumcision, or law-keeping, but through faith in the risen Christ and the grace of God.

Ishmael Mocking is a simple and efficient removal Event. For only 1 Faith, it can Damage an Enemy Being, finish off a weakened threat, or help set up a favorable Challenge later in the Turn. Because it's cheap, it's easy to combine with other Events, Beings, or follow-up Damage in the same Turn.

Early Removal: Ishmael Mocking can deal with small Enemy Beings before they become a bigger problem.
Damage Setup: It can weaken a stronger Enemy Being so another Friendly Being can finish it in a Challenge.
