The Bible Story Behind Jacob, Tricky Profiteer
Jacob entered Laban's household with little, but over many years he became a shepherd over great flocks and a man of considerable substance. He served for his wives, cared for Laban's cattle, and endured a master who repeatedly changed his wages. Though Jacob used careful and sometimes crafty methods, his increase ultimately came because God had determined to bless him.
Laban attempted to arrange every agreement for his own advantage. Each time Jacob's portion began to prosper, the terms were changed again. Yet the spotted, speckled, and stronger cattle continued to multiply under Jacob's care. Jacob, Tricky Profiteer therefore presents human cleverness operating beneath the greater providence of God, who wouldn't allow Laban to send Jacob away empty.
Genesis 30:43 — “And the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattle, and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and asses.”
Jacob's wealth grew far beyond the wages with which he had begun. His increase included cattle, servants, camels, and asses, preparing his household to return to the land God had promised. The verse shows that God remained faithful to Jacob despite imperfect motives, difficult circumstances, and the schemes of those around him.
Jacob labored many years to receive his bride and gather the flock that would become his possession. His story points imperfectly toward Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd who came into the world to purchase a people for His own name. Unlike Jacob, Jesus used no deceit and sought no unjust advantage; He completed His work in perfect righteousness.
Christ didn't purchase the church with cattle, silver, or years of earthly service. He gave Himself for her, shedding His own blood upon the cross and rising again from the dead. Through His finished work, believing Jews and Gentiles are gathered into one body, and the Shepherd receives the increase produced by His sacrifice and grace.

Jacob, Tricky Profiteer is a powerful scaling Being that rewards you for Playing Verses. Every Verse you Play while Jacob is active makes him stronger and harder to Exile. Because he grows from both Event Verses and Being Verses, Jacob works best in Decks that can Play multiple Verses across the Game, especially low-Cost Verses that help him grow quickly.
Jacob doesn't observe his own Play. Each later qualifying Play records a separate bonus, including Tokens Played by Creation, but those bonuses wait in the Queue. They only strengthen the same Jacob if it remains when they resolve.
