Genesis Set Card 187/250

Lion Creature is an Uncommon Spirit Being from the Wrath Age, costing 3 Faith with 1 Strength, 4 Hope, 1 Reach, and 0 Move. At your End of Turn, Lion Creature deals 1 Damage to Target Enemy Being.

The Bible Story Behind Lion Creature

In Revelation 4, John is brought into heaven and shown the throne from which the judgments of Daniel's final week will proceed. Four living creatures stand around that throne, continually watching, worshiping, and responding to the commands of God. Lion Creature presents the first of these heavenly beings, whose appearance resembles the strength and majesty of a lion.

This creature isn't the Antichrist's beast, an earthly animal, or a representation of Satan. It belongs to the holy order surrounding God's throne alongside creatures resembling a calf, a man, and a flying eagle. Its lion-like form communicates royal strength while its ceaseless worship shows that all true authority remains beneath the Lord God Almighty.

The creature's appearance doesn't mean that it's Jesus Christ Himself, although the lion naturally brings to mind the royal authority of the lion of the tribe of Juda. It's a heavenly servant whose position near the throne reflects the majesty and power of the One it worships. Before any seal is opened, heaven declares that God's rule is established, holy, and entirely unthreatened by the rebellion below.

Soon after John sees these living creatures, he weeps because no created being appears worthy to open the sealed book. One of the elders then announces that the lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed, and John beholds Jesus as a Lamb that had been slain. Christ possesses the strength of the victorious lion because He first completed redemption as the sacrificial Lamb.

Jesus alone is worthy to open the seals because He shed His blood, rose from the dead, and possesses rightful authority over heaven and earth. The lion-like creature serves before Him, but the Lamb directs the judgments and will personally return to destroy the beast at Armageddon. The wrath Age will reveal that Satan's counterfeit kingdom can't endure before the true King descended from Judah.

Lion Creature Bible TCG Strategy

Lion Creature is a steady End of Turn Damage Being. Even though it has only 1 Strength and 0 Move, it can keep dealing 1 Damage to Target Enemy Being at your End of Turn. This makes Lion Creature useful for slowly removing small Enemy Beings, finishing damaged Beings, or setting up larger removal Plays.

Synergies

  • End of Turn Damage: Lion Creature deals 1 Damage to Target Enemy Being at your End of Turn.

  • Damage setup: Its Repeated Damage can help prepare Enemy Beings for other removal.

  • Group bonuses: Light In The Darkness can increase Lion Creature's Strength along with your other Friendly Beings. Prepare the bonus for a Turn when those Beings can Challenge.

Questions and Answers

Q: When does Lion Creature's End of Turn Damage resolve?

A: Record its Ability at your End of Turn if the Ability is active. Resolve it when it reaches the front of the Queue. It doesn't interrupt an earlier Queue item.

Q: What if Lion Creature is Humbled before or after the trigger is recorded?

A: Before the trigger condition, its Canceled Ability records nothing. After the trigger is recorded, the pending Damage still resolves. If Lion remains Humbled when that Damage resolves, its Canceled Keywords don't apply.

Q: If I gave Lion Creature Unclean, who deals the Damage?

A: Lion Creature is the Damage source; its Controller carries out the Ability. If Lion still has Unclean when its Damage resolves, a Being it actually Damages is marked for Exile at the Checkpoint. Pray doesn't increase this Being Ability's Damage.

Q: What if Lion Creature has left the Storyline before its queued Damage resolves?

A: The recorded Ability still resolves using the old source's last known characteristics before it left. A returned and newly Created Lion is a different Being and can't change the old source's characteristics.

Q: Can Darkness, Eternal, or Anointing stop this Damage?

A: Active Darkness makes the Being an illegal Target. For a legal Target, Eternal prevents Damage without spending Anointing; otherwise unused Anointing prevents the instance. Prevented Damage doesn't trigger Unclean or Damage-taken Abilities.
