Genesis Set Card 33/250

Pleasant Discovery is a Rare Event from the Elder Age, costing 1 Faith. It lets you Draw three Verses, then Exile two of those three Verses from your Hand.

The Bible Story Behind Pleasant Discovery

In the garden of Eden, the LORD God caused every tree that was pleasant to the sight and good for food to grow from the ground. Adam and Eve were surrounded by beauty, abundance, and generous provision. Before sin entered the world, the garden displayed the goodness of the Creator, who freely supplied everything mankind needed for life.

In the midst of the garden stood the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. One offered continued life, while the other stood beneath a clear commandment from God. The forbidden tree wasn't placed there because God withheld goodness from man. It revealed that life and wisdom must be received according to the word of the Creator.

Genesis 2:9 — “And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”

The garden contained both abundance and order. Mankind was free to enjoy the many good things God had made, but wasn't free to redefine good and evil apart from Him. Pleasant Discovery reminds us that God is the giver of every good thing, and that His word alone reveals the proper use and purpose of His gifts.

Adam's disobedience brought death and barred mankind from the tree of life. The knowledge of good and evil could expose man's fallen condition, but it couldn't restore innocence or produce righteousness. In the same way, the law reveals sin, but it can't give life to those who have already fallen under its judgment.

Jesus came as the last Adam and the true source of everlasting life. He fulfilled the law, bore the curse upon the cross, and rose again from the dead. Through faith in Him, believers don't return to Eden by their own obedience; we receive something greater. Our life is found in the risen Christ, who gives eternal life freely by His grace.

Pleasant Discovery Bible TCG Strategy

Pleasant Discovery is a powerful card selection Event. It lets you look at three new Verses, keep the best one, and Exile the other two. This makes Pleasant Discovery useful when you're searching for a specific Verse, trying to improve your next few Plays, or digging for an important combo piece. Because the two Exiled Verses must be from the three Verses you just Drew, Pleasant Discovery doesn't force you to Exile other Verses that were already in your Hand.

Complete the Draw and Hand Exile instruction before resolving Draw triggers. With all required cards available and no other effects, Drawing three and Exiling two replaces the Event itself: your final Hand size is unchanged.

Synergies

  • Card Selection: Pleasant Discovery helps you see three new Verses and keep the one that best fits your current Game plan.

  • Combo Digging: Drawing three Verses can help combo Decks find a key piece more quickly.

  • Event Synergy: Pleasant Discovery works well in Decks that care about Events being Played.

Questions and Answers

Q: Do I choose which two Verses to Exile before or after seeing all three Verses I Draw?

A: After. Draw all three Verses first, then choose two of those three Verses from your Hand to Exile.

Q: If I control Royal Elephant, how many times can its Ability activate from Pleasant Discovery?

A: Three times, once for each Verse you Draw.

Q: Can I Exile cards that were already in my Hand instead of two of the three I just Drew?

A: No. Pleasant Discovery specifically requires the two Exiled Verses to come from those three Draws.

Q: What happens if I have fewer than three Verses remaining in my Bible?

A: You perform the instructed Draws in order. If you ever need to Draw while your Bible is empty, you lose the Game.

Q: Why might Exiling two Verses actually help some strategies instead of being purely a drawback?

A: Some Decks can use or reference their Exile Pile, and Pleasant Discovery also lets you deliberately keep the most important of three new options. The strength is selection, not raw card advantage.
