Public Reading is a Common Event from the Apocrypha, costing 1 Faith. Each Player Draws a Verse.
The Bible Story Behind Public Reading
After the Jewish people returned from captivity, they needed more than rebuilt walls and restored worship. They needed to hear again the words God had given to Israel. Public Reading presents Ezra standing before the assembled people and openly reading the law so that the entire congregation could understand the covenant they had neglected.
Men and women gathered together in the broad court before the holy porch, remaining there from morning until midday. The length of the reading reveals both the importance of the occasion and the people's willingness to listen. They weren't treating Scripture as a brief ceremony, but giving sustained attention to the words through which God had instructed their nation.
1 Esdras 9:41 — “And hee read in the broad court before the holy porch from morning vnto midday, before both men and women; and all the multitude gaue heed vnto the law.”
The law was read publicly because God's truth wasn't intended to remain hidden among priests or scholars. Israel's men and women were responsible to hear what the LORD had commanded, remember His dealings with their fathers, and understand the covenant beneath which their nation lived. The multitude's attention showed a renewed willingness to receive the words they had earlier ignored.
The public reading of the law also exposed Israel's need for something greater than renewed determination. The commandments revealed God's holiness, identified sin, and showed that fallen people couldn't establish righteousness through their own obedience. The law faithfully prepared the way for Jesus Christ, the only One who fulfilled it perfectly and bore its curse for sinners upon the cross.
The church isn't placed beneath Israel's covenant or justified through keeping the law of Moses. Believers are saved by grace through faith in the blood of Christ, and the Holy Ghost teaches them through the completed Scriptures. Even so, the public reading of God's Word remains precious because faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Public Reading Bible TCG Strategy
Public Reading gives every Player another Verse. Although your Opponent also receives a Verse, Apocrypha Decks can turn their Draw into an advantage through Abilities that activate whenever an Opponent Draws. Public Reading is strongest when your Storyline is already prepared to gain extra value from each Draw. It can help fill your Hand while creating Bible pressure against the Opponent.
If both Draws succeed without other Hand changes, your Hand size is unchanged because Public Reading replaces itself; the Opponent's Hand increases by one. Complete both required Draws before the shared Checkpoint. If both Players fail their required Draw, both lose at that Checkpoint and the Game is a draw.

Questions and Answers
Q: What happens if I control both Royal Elephant and Adorned Horse when I Play Public Reading?
A: Your Draw can activate Royal Elephant and Exile four Verses from the Opponent's Bible, while the Opponent's Draw can activate Adorned Horse and Exile another two. One Public Reading can therefore create six Verses of additional Bible pressure.
Q: Can Public Reading help me prepare Solomon, Spirit Of Wisdom?
A: Public Reading replaces itself in your Hand if your Draw succeeds. Without other effects, your Hand size is unchanged from before you Played it, so it doesn't by itself increase Solomon's later Prophecy bonus. Draw-triggered Abilities may provide additional value.
Q: Can Public Reading also make Simon, High Priest cheaper?
A: Not by itself. The Event leaves your Hand and you Draw one replacement, for no net Hand-size change. Without other Hand changes, Simon's calculated Cost remains the same.
Q: Does Public Reading force me to Exile down to seven Verses immediately if it takes my Hand above seven?
A: No. The Hand limit is checked at the appropriate End of Turn timing rather than every time you Draw during the Turn.
Q: Does either Player gaining a Verse from Public Reading count as Playing that Verse?
A: No. Drawing a Verse and Playing a Verse are different actions.
