Genesis Set Card 228/250
Everlasting Law is an Uncommon Event from the Apocrypha, costing 1 Faith. Target Opponent Reveals their Hand, then you Place a Verse from it as Faith under their control.
The Bible Story Behind Everlasting Law
Baruch addresses Israel after the nation had suffered judgment for abandoning the LORD and refusing His instruction. Their captivity didn't mean God's law had failed; it revealed how seriously they had departed from the covenant given to them. Everlasting Law presents the commandments of God as enduring truth that Israel was called to remember, receive, and obey.
The book contrasts the way of life with the path of death. Those who held fast to God's law walked in the wisdom, worship, and order He had appointed for His people, while those who forsook it turned toward idolatry and destruction. Israel's calamity came not because God had been unfaithful, but because the nation had abandoned the words through which He had directed them.
Baruch 4:1 — “This is the Booke of the commandements of God: and the Law that endureth for euer: all they that keepe it shall come to life: but such as leaue it, shall die.”

The law endured because it proceeded from the unchanging holiness and righteousness of God. Within Israel's covenant, obedience brought life and blessing, while rebellion brought judgment and death. Yet Israel's repeated failure also exposed a deeper problem: the commandments were perfect, but fallen human hearts couldn't produce the perfect righteousness they required.
Jesus Christ didn't come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. He obeyed God perfectly, satisfied every righteous demand, and then bore the curse of sin upon the cross for those who could never justify themselves. The law revealed mankind's guilt, while Christ provided the righteousness and life that the law itself could never produce within a sinner.
The church isn't placed beneath Israel's covenant as a means of earning righteousness or maintaining salvation. Believers receive everlasting life freely through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God's commandments remain holy and instructive, but our standing before Him rests entirely upon the finished work and shed blood of His Son.

Everlasting Law Bible TCG Strategy
Everlasting Law gives you information about the Opponent's Hand and lets you remove one of their Verses from it. Although the Opponent receives another Faith Verse, you can choose an important Verse they wanted to Play and turn it into a resource instead. This is especially useful against powerful Events, combo pieces, or late-Game Beings. The chosen Verse isn't Played, so none of its normal Abilities happen when it becomes Faith.
Synergies
Hand disruption: Everlasting Law removes an important Verse from the Opponent's immediate options before they can Play it.
Combo interruption: Turning a key combo piece into Faith can prevent the Opponent from completing the sequence they were preparing.
Faith control: The Verse can later be returned, Exiled, or otherwise disrupted by effects that interact with an Opponent's Faith Area.
Questions and Answers
Q: If I turn an Opponent's Holy Rare Being into Faith, do any of that Being's Abilities activate?
A: No. It was Placed as Faith rather than Played onto the Storyline.
Q: Does the Verse still keep its original Age after becoming Faith?
A: Yes. This means the disruption has a drawback: you may accidentally give your Opponent access to an Age they wanted in their Faith Area.
Q: Can Day Of Judgment later Exile the Verse I forced into their Faith Area?
A: Yes. Once it's a Faith Verse under the Opponent's control, it can be a legal Target for effects that Exile an Opponent's Faith Verse.
Q: Can I choose a Verse the Opponent was planning to use as their finisher and force them to use it as a resource instead?
A: Yes. That's one of Everlasting Law's strongest uses because it converts an immediate threat into Faith without Playing it.
Q: If the Opponent later gets that Verse back from their Faith Area, do I somehow regain control of it?
A: No. Everlasting Law doesn't transfer ownership or control to you; it Places that Player's Verse in their Faith Area. Owner and Controller remain separate concepts, even though they are the same Player in this example.
