The Bible Story Behind Tobit, Alms Giver
Tobit was an Israelite of the tribe of Naphtali who lived among the captives in Nineveh. Although many around him departed from God's commandments, Tobit sought to walk in truth, care for his fellow Israelites, and remember his responsibilities of mercy. Tobit, Alms Giver presents a man attempting to remain faithful while living far from Jerusalem beneath foreign rule.
His alms weren't occasional gestures performed for public praise. Tobit fed the hungry, clothed those in need, assisted his brethren, and even risked his safety to bury Israelites whose bodies had been dishonored. His generosity flowed from concern for his afflicted nation and from his desire to practice righteousness during a dark period of Israel's history.
Tobit 1:3 says: "I Tobit haue walked all the dayes of my life in the way of trueth, and iustice, and I did many almes deeds to my brethren, and my nation, who came with me to Nineue into the land of the Assyrians."
Tobit's alms fall within Israel's covenant responsibilities. The same Scriptures that command sacrifice, Sabbath observance, mercy, and obedience also speak of the place of alms in that life. Raphael's statement in Tobit 12:9 connects them to deliverance from death and the purging of sin. Those words must be read with the people and conditions being addressed, just as the commands in the familiar Old Testament and in Christ's earthly ministry must be read within their place in the story.
Jesus told the rich young ruler to give his possessions to the poor and follow Him, exposing the attachment the man wasn't willing to surrender. He also drew His disciples' attention to the poor widow who gave all her living in two mites. Such passages reveal the depth of what righteousness requires. A person can't turn selected charitable acts into complete righteousness that removes every sin and leaves God with nothing left to judge.
The church has received a different standing through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Our old selves have been judged with Him; we have been born again, and our life is now in the risen Saviour. His blood, death, burial, and resurrection supply our forgiveness and acceptance. We can appreciate Tobit's mercy and serve others through the life Christ supplies without trying to purchase the righteousness already given to His body by grace.

A: Yes. Neither 0 Strength nor 0 Reach prevents Tobit from Blocking. With 0 Reach, he can't initiate a Challenge; with 0 Strength, he normally deals no Challenge Damage.
Q: What happens if Royal Elephant is on my Storyline when Tobit gives me my End Of Turn Draw?
A: Your Draw can activate Royal Elephant and Exile four Verses from the top of Target Opponent's Bible.
Q: If Tobit takes my Hand from seven Verses to eight at End Of Turn, what happens?
A: His Draw resolves first. When the Hand limit is then checked, you Exile Verses until your Hand contains seven.
Q: Can that Hand-limit timing help Simon, High Priest on my next Turn?
A: Only the Verses that survive in your Hand matter. You can't normally carry an eight-card Hand through the End Of Turn merely to keep Simon cheaper.
Q: What happens if I control two Tobits?
