The Bible Story Behind Saul, Desired Ruler
Israel had demanded a king who would rule them like the kings of the surrounding nations. Saul appeared to be exactly what the people desired: tall, impressive, and capable of leading an army. Yet repeated disobedience caused the LORD to reject his dynasty, and the throne Saul tried to preserve had already been promised to another man.
After David defeated Goliath and began winning victories for Israel, the people praised him more highly than Saul. Instead of rejoicing that God had raised up a faithful servant, Saul became jealous and suspicious. Saul, Desired Ruler therefore presents a king who viewed David's success as a threat rather than a blessing to the nation he governed.
1 Samuel 18:11 — “And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.”
Saul attempted to kill David while David played music in his presence. His violence revealed how deeply envy and fear had taken control of him. Although Saul still occupied the throne outwardly, God's Spirit was with David, and no weapon could prevent the chosen shepherd from reaching the kingdom appointed to him.
Saul tried to destroy the man chosen to succeed him, but Jesus Christ possesses a kingdom no rival can threaten. He is the rightful Son of David, appointed by the Father and raised from the dead. His throne is secured by perfect righteousness rather than fear, jealousy, or the approval of men.
Earthly rulers often preserve power by taking from others, but Jesus established His kingdom by giving Himself. He allowed sinful men to pierce Him, bore our sins upon the cross, and rose again so that His enemies could become members of His body. The true King didn't cast a weapon to protect His life; He surrendered His life to save ours.

Saul, Desired Ruler is a strong removal Being against low-Strength Enemy Beings. When he is Created, he can Exile a Target Enemy Being with 2 or less Strength. This makes Saul useful against small support Beings, low-Strength utility Beings, or Enemy Beings whose Strength has been reduced by another effect.
