Genesis Set Card 109/250

Angry Hornet is a Common Creep Being from the Israel Age, costing 2 Faith with 1 Strength, 2 Hope, 1 Reach, and 1 Move. Its Prophecy Ability deals 1 Damage to Target Enemy Being.

The Bible Story Behind Angry Hornet

As Israel prepared to possess Canaan, the LORD promised that He would go before them and drive out their enemies. Their victory wouldn't depend upon military strength alone, because the God who had delivered them from Egypt controlled every part of creation and could use even the smallest creature to fulfill His purpose.

The hornet represented a pursuing judgment that would reach enemies who attempted to escape or hide. Israel's opponents might retreat behind walls, flee into the countryside, or conceal themselves from the advancing army, but they couldn't hide from the LORD. Angry Hornet therefore presents God weakening and removing resistance before His covenant people entered their inheritance.

Deuteronomy 7:20 — “Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.”

The promise reminded Israel that the conquest belonged ultimately to God. A hornet appeared insignificant beside fortified cities and armed nations, yet it became enough when sent by the LORD. The power of the instrument didn't determine the victory; the authority of the One who sent it did.

Israel faced visible enemies within the land, but Jesus Christ confronted the unseen powers that held mankind beneath sin and death. At the cross, He appeared weak and rejected, yet through that sacrifice He spoiled principalities and powers and openly triumphed over them.

Christ fulfilled the law, bore its curse, and answered every accusation against those who believe. He then rose from the grave, proving that death and the devil couldn't hold Him. The enemies that once pursued mankind have been defeated by the Savior who went before His people and secured their everlasting inheritance.

Questions and Answers

Q: What happens if Goliath's Taunts has already set an Enemy Being's Hope to 1?

A: Angry Hornet's 1 Prophecy Damage is enough to reduce that Being's Current Hope to 0 and Exile it, assuming the Damage isn't prevented.

Q: Can I Return Angry Hornet to my Hand with Signs And Wonders and reuse its Damage?

A: Yes. If you later Play and Create Angry Hornet again, Prophecy triggers again and can deal another 1 Damage.

Q: If Angry Hornet's Damage Exiles a Being with Resurrect, does Resurrect still trigger?

A: Yes. The Being was Exiled from the Storyline because its Current Hope reached 0 or less, so its active Resurrect Ability can trigger.

Q: Does Pray increase Angry Hornet's Prophecy Damage?

A: No. Pray increases Event Damage. Angry Hornet's Damage comes from a Being Ability.

Q: If the Target has only 1 Hope but unused Anointing, what happens?

A: Anointing ignores Angry Hornet's Damage, so the Being survives and its Anointing becomes used.
