The Bible Story Behind Flock Sheep
David understood the dependence of sheep because he had spent years caring for his father's flock. Sheep needed a shepherd to locate food, find safe water, protect them from predators, and lead them away from dangerous paths. In Psalm 23, David used this familiar relationship to describe the personal care and faithful guidance of the LORD.
Green pastures supplied food, while still waters provided a safe place to drink and recover. The shepherd didn't merely point toward provision and leave the sheep to find it themselves. Flock Sheep therefore presents a dependent flock being led into peace, nourishment, and rest by the one responsible for its care.

By faith in the gospel, the church receives everything Christ has secured for His body and bride, while Israel will be gathered and brought into her promised covenant blessings when the nation receives Jesus as her Messiah at His second coming.
