The Fish Prepared by God

Breaching Whale is a Rare Fish Being from the Israel Age, costing 1 faith and coming in with 2 strength and 3 hope. This powerful card activates Prophecy when created, allowing you to have a big body on your storyline if there are no other beings, or to Exile another target friendly being. Though that might seem like a cost, at the right times, it becomes a combo enabler.

The Prophet in the Deep

The great fish was not chance, it was prepared by the hand of God for one purpose: to carry a prophet who would pass through death to bring life. Jonah was the only prophet sent directly to the Gentiles, but his journey began with running from the Lord. The storm struck, the waves towered, and Jonah was cast into the sea. As he sank, he declared in prayer that the waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about. In that moment, Jonah died. His soul descended to the bars of the earth.

From there, Jonah cried to the Lord out of the belly of hell. His body lay entombed in the fish, his spirit in the realm of the dead, yet God heard his voice. Three days and three nights passed in that place of no escape. The fish was not merely his prison, it was his grave. But the God who brings life from the dead spoke to the fish, and it released Jonah upon the shore.

This card's verse is Jonah 1:17:

"Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights."

Jonah rose from death and proclaimed the word of the Lord to Nineveh. In a single message, an entire city turned from their evil and humbled themselves before God. From death, Jonah carried the word of life, and the Gentiles rejoiced in the mercy of the God of Israel.

The Greater Jonah

Jesus declared that no sign would be given but the sign of the prophet Jonah, three days and three nights in the belly of the fish, even as the Son of Man would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. As Jonah died and descended, so Christ truly died and His soul entered the depths. He bore sin, He bore judgment, and He entered the place no man could escape.

Yet on the appointed third day, the grave could not hold Him. He rose with power, not to warn of destruction alone, but to proclaim grace, forgiveness, and eternal life.
