Genesis Set Card 31/250
Curious Mouse is a Common Creep Being from the Elder Age, costing 1 Faith with 1 Strength, 1 Hope, 3 Reach, and 0 Move. Its Ability gives adjacent Creeps Zeal.
The Bible Story Behind Curious Mouse
Among the smaller creatures of the earth is the mouse, curious, quick, and often hidden within places unnoticed by man. God created every moving and creeping thing according to His wisdom, and all that He made was very good. Yet after Adam's fall, corruption entered the creation, and even the smallest creature could later become an image connected with uncleanness and decay.
Curious Mouse places an ordinary small creature within the world represented by the Elder Age. Its reference comes much later, from Isaiah's judgment against corrupt worship. The card's Age identifies the creature's place in the game; it doesn't relocate Isaiah's prophecy or Israel's dietary law into the period before the flood.
Isaiah 66:17 — “[...] eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.”

Under the law, the mouse was numbered among the creatures Israel was forbidden to eat. In Isaiah, men used unclean practices while pretending to sanctify themselves according to their own ways. Their outward religion couldn't conceal their rebellion from God. The verse therefore warns that self-made holiness can't cleanse a heart that rejects the word of the LORD.
The law made a distinction between clean and unclean, revealing that sinful man couldn't approach a holy God upon his own terms. Yet those ordinances couldn't cleanse the conscience or remove sin. Jesus fulfilled the law and offered Himself without spot to God, shedding the precious blood that cleanses believers from all sin.
The church isn't under Israel's ceremonial laws concerning meats, washings, and unclean creatures. Our holiness doesn't come from what we eat, touch, or avoid, but from our union with Jesus Christ. Through faith in Him, we're washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and sealed by the Holy Ghost.

Questions and Answers
Q: If I Create a Creep beside Curious Mouse, can that Creep Challenge immediately?
A: Yes. While it remains adjacent and Curious Mouse's Ability is active, it has Zeal.
Q: What happens if that Creep Moves away from Curious Mouse before using Zeal?
A: Moving already uses its Interaction, so it normally won't be able to Challenge afterward. It also stops receiving Curious Mouse's ongoing Zeal once it's no longer adjacent.
Q: If Curious Mouse is Humbled, what happens to the Zeal it was giving adjacent Creeps?
A: Its Ability is canceled, so the ongoing Zeal immediately stops being granted.
Q: If an adjacent Creep is Humbled but Curious Mouse isn't, does the Creep lose the Zeal coming from Curious Mouse?
A: No. The ongoing Ability originates from Curious Mouse. Humbling the receiver doesn't cancel an active passive Ability coming from another Being.
Q: Why is Curious Mouse's 0 Move especially important?
A: It can't normally reposition if your Storyline develops differently than expected. You need to choose its Slot with future adjacent Creep placements in mind.
