The Bible Story Behind Day Of Judgment
Judith's song celebrates the Lord's deliverance of Israel after the defeat of Holofernes. The Assyrian army had surrounded God's people, threatened their inheritance, and expected to overcome them through overwhelming strength. Day Of Judgment looks beyond that immediate victory toward the final accountability awaiting nations that defiantly rise against God and persecute His people.
Human kingdoms often behave as though military power allows them to act without consequence. They invade, oppress, destroy, and mock the God whose patience they mistake for weakness. Judith declares that the Almighty remembers such evil and has appointed a day when every proud nation will answer before Him. The Lord's delayed judgment isn't indifference; it's judgment reserved for its proper time.
Judith 16:17 — “Woe to the nations that rise vp against my kinred: the Lord almighty will take vengeance of them in the day of iudgement in putting fire and wormes in their flesh, and they shall feele them and weepe for euer.”

God justifies the ungodly by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, giving believers His righteousness rather than judging them according to their own insufficient record. Those who reject the Son remain beneath condemnation, but those who trust His finished work possess everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation.
