Worldwide Plagues is a Common Event from the Apocrypha, costing 3 Faith. It Exiles twelve Verses from the top of Target Opponent's Bible.

The Bible Story Behind Worldwide Plagues

Second Esdras presents a series of visions concerning corruption, warfare, suffering, and the judgments that precede God's final intervention. The warning isn't limited to one city or one nation. Worldwide Plagues presents calamity spreading across the earth as the Lord brings mankind's rebellion into open judgment.

The sword, famine, death, and destruction describe different forms of devastation that often arrive together. Warfare interrupts trade and agriculture, famine follows the collapse of ordinary life, and death multiplies as societies lose the ability to protect or sustain their people. The vision portrays a world discovering that human strength can't preserve civilization when God withdraws restraint.

2 Esdras 15:5 — “Behold, saith the Lord, I will bring plagues vpon the world; the sword, famine, death, and destruction.”

The opening word "Behold" demands attention because these disasters aren't presented as meaningless accidents. The Lord declares that judgment is coming upon the world, showing His authority over nations that have ignored His truth and filled the earth with wickedness. No border, army, economy, or ruler can guarantee safety when the Creator calls the whole world to account.

Scripture repeatedly connects worldwide judgment with mankind's rejection of God, from the flood in Noah's day to the future wrath revealed before Christ's kingdom. Yet before that judgment falls, God announces mercy through the gospel. Jesus Christ entered the condemned world, bore sin upon the cross, and rose again so that sinners could be reconciled to God rather than perish beneath His wrath.

Believers aren't delivered because they possess enough resources to survive every earthly disaster. The church's hope rests in Christ, who has justified her through His blood and promised to gather her to Himself. Israel and the nations still have their appointed places within future prophecy, but salvation for every person remains found only in the Son. The coming plagues reveal why mankind needs more than political reform, physical preparation, or temporary peace.

Worldwide Plagues Bible TCG Strategy

Worldwide Plagues is one of the strongest direct Bible pressure Events in Bible TCG. Exiling twelve Verses can remove a large part of the Opponent's remaining resources with one Play. It doesn't affect the Storyline directly, so use it when you can survive the Opponent's current Beings or when their Bible is already low enough for the twelve Verses to matter immediately.

A first-Turn win in Showdown can be an intended result of that format's starting resources and victory threshold. Emptying a Bible is different: the affected Player must still fail a required Draw before the normal Deck-out loss applies.

Synergies

  • Bible control: Exiling twelve Verses creates a major step toward emptying the Opponent's Bible.

  • Repeated Exile strategy: Combining several Bible Exile effects can quickly remove a large portion of the Opponent's Bible.

  • Forced Draw finish: Once the Bible is empty, any effect that makes the Opponent Draw can end the Game.

Questions and Answers

Q: What happens if I Play two Worldwide Plagues during the same Game?

A: Assuming enough Verses remain, you Exile twenty-four Verses from the Opponent's Bible across the two Events.

Q: Does Royal Elephant activate when Worldwide Plagues Exiles twelve Verses?

A: No. Royal Elephant cares about you Drawing a Verse. Worldwide Plagues doesn't cause any Draw.

Q: Does Adorned Horse activate because the Opponent loses twelve Verses?

A: No. The Opponent didn't Draw those Verses.

Q: Can Behold The Pavement make sure one specific Verse is included in Worldwide Plagues?

A: Yes. Place that Verse on top of the Bible first, then Worldwide Plagues begins Exiling from that known top position.

Q: If Worldwide Plagues Exiles the final Verse in the Opponent's Bible just before their Turn, what normally happens next?

A: Their Bible is empty, so their required Draw becomes the critical moment. If they need to Draw and no Verse is available, they lose.
