Genesis Set Card 116/250
Elijah's Mantle is a Holy Rare Event from the Israel Age, costing 4 Faith. It Gives Target Being +2 Strength, +2 Hope, and Abundance.
The Bible Story Behind Elijah's Mantle
Elisha had followed Elijah faithfully and refused to leave him as the prophet approached the end of his earthly ministry. Together they crossed the Jordan after Elijah struck the waters with his mantle. Elisha then witnessed a chariot of fire, horses of fire, and Elijah taken up by a whirlwind into heaven.
As Elijah departed, his mantle fell to the ground. Elisha took it up and returned to the Jordan, carrying the visible sign of the prophetic office he had been called to continue. Elijah's Mantle therefore presents the responsibility and authority of one servant passing to the man appointed to follow after him.
2 Kings 2:14 — “And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.”

When the waters divided, the sons of the prophets recognized that the spirit which had rested upon Elijah now rested upon Elisha. The power wasn't contained within the cloth itself, but came from the LORD who confirmed His chosen servant. The parted Jordan showed that Elijah's departure hadn't ended God's work among Israel.
Elijah was taken away while another prophet remained to continue his ministry, but Jesus Christ completed His earthly work before ascending to the Father. He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again before being received into heaven as the victorious and exalted Lord.
Christ didn't leave His disciples with a physical garment or merely transfer one prophetic office to a successor. He sent the Holy Ghost to dwell within every believer and unite the church as His body. The Spirit isn't a mantle earned through spiritual ambition, but the promised gift received through faith in the risen Savior.

Questions and Answers
Q: What happens if I Play Elijah's Mantle on Daniel, Inside Babylon?
A: Daniel gains +2 Strength, +2 Hope, and Abundance. He can Challenge twice, causing his "Opponent loses 2 Points" Ability to trigger on each Challenge for 4 total point loss.
Q: What if Daniel also has Land Inheritance?
A: Each Challenge can also Draw you a Verse. That turns Daniel into a two-Challenge engine producing point loss, Draws, and normal Challenge Damage.
Q: Does Giving Abundance to Elisha, Double Portion let him Challenge more than twice?
A: No. Elisha already has Abundance. Granting the same Keyword again doesn't multiply it into additional Challenges, although he still benefits from the +2 Strength and +2 Hope.
Q: What happens if the upgraded Being is Humbled?
A: Humble removes the direct +2 Strength and +2 Hope modifiers and cancels the granted Abundance.

Q: Can Elijah's Mantle be Played on an Enemy Being?
A: Yes. The card says Target Being. That may occasionally be strategically useful, but you would also be giving that Enemy Being significant benefits, so the choice should be deliberate.
