The Bible Story Behind Gideon, Swift Warrior
Israel had been oppressed by Midian for seven years, causing the people to hide in dens, caves, and strongholds. Their enemies destroyed crops and livestock until the nation became greatly impoverished. Gideon was threshing wheat secretly beside a winepress when the angel of the LORD appeared and called the fearful man a mighty man of valour.
Gideon questioned why Israel suffered if the LORD was truly with them and described himself as the least member of a poor family. Yet God didn't define him by his present weakness. Gideon, Swift Warrior therefore presents an uncertain servant called and sent according to the strength God would provide rather than the strength he already possessed.
Judges 6:22 — “And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.”
When Gideon understood who had appeared to him, he feared that he would die in the presence of divine holiness. The LORD answered him with peace and told him not to fear. Gideon then built an altar and called it Jehovah-shalom, showing that the God who commissioned him also supplied the peace necessary for him to rise and obey.
Gideon would deliver Israel through an army reduced to only three hundred men so that no one could claim the victory came through human strength. Jesus Christ accomplished an even greater deliverance through what appeared weak to the world. He humbled Himself to death upon the cross and defeated sin, death, and the powers of darkness through His sacrifice.
Gideon feared condemnation after encountering the presence of God, but Jesus made peace between God and sinners through His blood. Christ fulfilled the law, bore its judgment, and rose again so that everyone who believes could stand before God without terror. The holy God who must judge sin has become our peace through the finished work of His Son.

Gideon, Swift Warrior is a steady early Soldier with built-in protection. Anointing helps him survive the first Damage he would take, making him useful for safer Challenges or holding a Slot against small Enemy Beings. Even though his Stats are modest, Anointing gives him extra staying power and makes him more difficult to remove with the first Damage effect. Setting Hope removes all Damage and earlier direct Hope modifiers, but doesn't cancel or replenish Anointing. If Gideon's Anointing has already been used, set doesn't give him another use.

A: Gideon's Hope becomes 1. Anointing does nothing because no Damage was dealt, but it remains unused and can still protect him from the next Damage instance.

A: If that Challenge produces Gideon's first Damage instance, Anointing can ignore all of that Damage. Gideon still deals his own Challenge Damage at the same time.
