Genesis Set Card 82/250
Grievous Locust is a Common Creep Being from the Torah Age, costing 2 Faith with 2 Strength, 1 Hope, 1 Reach, and 0 Move. It has Zeal, allowing it to Challenge immediately.
The Bible Story Behind Grievous Locust
After Pharaoh continued to resist the LORD, Moses warned that locusts would cover Egypt and consume everything left by the hail. Pharaoh's servants recognized that the nation was being destroyed and urged him to release Israel. Yet Pharaoh still attempted to control the terms of their departure rather than submit completely to the command of God.
When the LORD brought an east wind across the land, the locusts came in a swarm greater than Egypt had ever experienced. They covered the ground, darkened the land, and devoured every herb, fruit, and green thing that remained. Grievous Locust therefore presents a relentless judgment consuming the resources upon which Egypt depended.
Exodus 10:14 — “And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.”

The plague showed how quickly earthly abundance could disappear beneath the judgment of God. Pharaoh confessed his sin and asked Moses to remove the destruction, but after the locusts were driven into the Red Sea, his resistance returned. Temporary fear of consequences didn't produce a heart willing to obey the LORD.
The locust plague reveals the destructive fruit of sin and rebellion. The law warned Israel that disobedience would bring curses upon the land, including enemies and insects consuming its increase. Jesus Christ came beneath that law, fulfilled it perfectly, and then bore its curse upon the cross for guilty sinners.
At Calvary, Christ suffered the judgment our rebellion deserved and gave His life to redeem us from condemnation. He rose again so that believers wouldn't live beneath the fear of approaching wrath, but beneath the certainty of His grace. The judgment that could consume everything has been answered by the sacrifice that accomplished everything.

Grievous Locust Bible TCG Strategy
Grievous Locust is an aggressive early Being that can act right away. Because it has Zeal, it can Challenge the Turn it's Created, letting you pressure an Enemy Being immediately. Its 0 Move means it can't reposition normally, so you need to Create it in the right Slot if you want to use its Challenge effectively.

Questions and Answers
Q: Can I Play Declared Unclean on Grievous Locust and then Challenge immediately?
A: Yes. Zeal allows the Challenge, and Declared Unclean Gives it Unclean for the Turn. Any Being it successfully Damages is then Exiled.
Q: Can Grievous Locust Challenge an Enemy Being with Darkness that hasn't Interacted?
A: No. A Challenge Targets the Being being Challenged. Darkness makes that Being an illegal Target before it Interacts.
Q: Can Grievous Locust Challenge a Being that's being protected by an adjacent Being with Protect?
A: No. Protect prevents Challenges against that adjacent Being while the Protect Ability remains active.
Q: What happens if Grievous Locust is Humbled before using Zeal?
A: Humble cancels Zeal. If it was Created this Turn, it must normally wait until its Controller's next Turn to Interact. Humble doesn't Reset its age on the Storyline, and a later new grant of Zeal can permit a Challenge if other restrictions allow.
Q: If the lane is open, can Grievous Locust use Zeal for a direct Challenge instead of Challenging a Being?
A: Yes, if the Opponent is a legal direct Challenge Target and all Reach and Blocking requirements are satisfied.
