Genesis Set Card 93/250

Jethro, Father In Law is an Uncommon Priest Being from the Torah Age, costing 4 Faith with 3 Strength, 3 Hope, 1 Reach, and 5 Move. His Prophecy Ability Gives another Target Friendly Being Darkness until your next Start of Turn.

The Bible Story Behind Jethro, Father In Law

Jethro was the priest of Midian, the father of Zipporah, and the father in law of Moses. After hearing how the LORD had delivered Israel from Egypt, he came into the wilderness with Moses' wife and sons. There he rejoiced over God's goodness, offered sacrifices, and recognized that the LORD was greater than all gods.

The next day, Jethro watched Moses judge the people from morning until evening. Every dispute was brought before one man, leaving Moses exhausted and the congregation waiting. Jethro warned that this burden was too heavy and advised him to appoint capable, truthful, God-fearing men who could judge smaller matters under his authority.

Exodus 18:24 — “So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.”

Moses didn't reject the counsel because it came from someone outside Israel or because he had already been chosen by God. He listened, recognized the wisdom within it, and established an ordered system of leadership. His humility allowed the burden to be shared while the most difficult matters still came to him.

Moses required human assistance because he was a mortal servant with limited strength, but Jesus Christ is the all-enough Head of His church. He possesses all wisdom, power, and authority, and nothing within His body exists to complete something lacking in Him. The church receives its life, strength, wisdom, and preservation entirely from the risen Lord, in whom every member is already complete.

Jesus Christ remains the only Head, Chief Shepherd, and final authority over His church. Every member receives life, grace, and every spiritual gift from Him, and the body's unity and growth proceed from the risen Lord rather than from human organization or performance.

Questions and Answers

Q: Can Jethro Give Darkness to a Being that already Interacted this Turn?

A: Yes. The newly granted Darkness begins when the Prophecy resolves. Earlier Interactions don't immediately end a new grant; its next Interaction ends the protection.

Q: Can I Target a Friendly Being that already has active Darkness?

A: No. Darkness prevents Targeting by every Player, including its Controller. Jethro can't select an already protected Being as his Target.

Q: How long does Jethro's granted Darkness last?

A: Until your next Start of Turn, unless the Being Interacts, leaves the Storyline, or has the Ability canceled first. The specified duration doesn't restart when the Being Resets.

Q: Can the protected Being Block, Move, or Challenge?

A: It can't Block while its Darkness is active. It may Move or Challenge when otherwise allowed, but that Interaction ends its Darkness protection.

Q: Can Humble remove the granted Darkness?

A: Yes, if Humble can legally affect the Being. A Targeted Humble effect can't select it while Darkness is active, but a non-Targeting mass Humble effect can cancel the grant.
