Sore For Slaughter is an Uncommon Event from the Hebrew Age, costing 2 Faith. It deals 1 Damage to all Enemy Beings.

The Bible Story Behind Sore For Slaughter

After Shechem defiled Dinah, the sons of Jacob answered his household with a deceitful demand involving circumcision. They agreed to join with the men of the city only if every male received the covenant sign given to Abraham. Shechem's people accepted the condition, believing it would lead to peace, marriage, and shared possessions.

Simeon and Levi never intended to honor that agreement. They waited until the third day, when the men were sore and unable to defend themselves, and then entered the city with their swords. Sore For Slaughter therefore presents a holy sign misused as a weapon of vengeance, joining deceit with uncontrolled wrath.

Genesis 34:25 — “And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.”

The men of Shechem were guilty of following a selfish agreement, but Simeon and Levi weren't appointed to destroy the entire city. Their boldness didn't make their actions righteous. They used weakness as an opportunity for slaughter and brought reproach upon Jacob's household. The event warns that zeal without truth, mercy, and God's authority becomes cruelty.

Jesus entered the world under the law and received circumcision according to the covenant given to Abraham. Unlike the men of Shechem, He never treated the law as an outward advantage while rejecting the God who gave it. Christ fulfilled every commandment perfectly, then willingly suffered at the hands of cruel men.

Simeon and Levi struck weakened men with swords, but Jesus allowed Himself to be wounded for the guilty. He bore the judgment of sin, died upon the cross, and rose again the third day. Through His sacrifice, believers receive the circumcision made without hands, being separated from the dominion of the flesh through their union with Christ.

Sore For Slaughter Bible TCG Strategy

Sore For Slaughter is a wide Damage Event that can punish Enemy Storylines filled with small Beings. It's especially useful against low-Hope Beings, Tokens, and damaged Enemy Beings. Because it affects all Enemy Beings and doesn't Target, it can also Damage Enemy Beings with Darkness.

Synergies

  • Wide Storyline Damage: Sore For Slaughter can Damage every Enemy Being at once.

  • Anti-Token Tool: It's strong against Enemy Storylines filled with small Beings or Tokens.

  • Pray Synergy: Since Sore For Slaughter is an Event that deals Damage, Beings with Pray can increase its Damage.

Questions and Answers

Q: If Sarah, Heir's Mother is on my Storyline, how much Damage does Sore For Slaughter deal?

A: Sarah's Pray +2 increases the Event Damage from 1 to 3 against every affected Enemy Being.

Q: Can Sore For Slaughter Damage a Being protected by Darkness before it Interacts?

A: Yes. Sore For Slaughter doesn't Target individual Beings, so Darkness doesn't protect against it.

Q: What happens to an Enemy Being with unused Anointing?

A: Anointing ignores that Being's first Damage instance from Sore For Slaughter and is then used.

Q: What happens to an Eternal Enemy Being?

A: Eternal prevents the Damage. The Being remains unaffected by that Damage instance.

Q: If Sore For Slaughter Exiles three Enemy Beings at once while Innocent Firstling is on my Storyline, what happens?

A: An active Firstling records one trigger per Exiled Being, for three triggers. They grant +3 Strength and +3 Hope total if the same Firstling remains for all three resolutions. Humble after the triggers are recorded doesn't cancel them, though leaving the Storyline prevents their self-buffs from affecting that departed Being.
