Given to Serve, Set Apart to Protect

Levite Priest is an Uncommon Priest Being from the Torah Age, costing 2 faith and coming into play with 3 strength and 2 hope. When Created, it activates its Prophecy ability: Return another target friendly Being to your hand. This offers an excellent tool for bouncing valuable cards before they're exiled, reusing Prophecy abilities, or allowing you to return a key being back at full hope.

The Priest Who Spoke for the Law

In the days of the Torah, the Levite priest was the mouthpiece of the law. When someone came to him with a skin disease, or impurity, or guilt, he spoke what the torah states. He inspected, judged, and declared. If you were unclean, he’d say it. If you had to isolate, he’d send you out. If you sinned, he’d tell you what offering to bring. Everything he did was based on what was written, not what was felt. He was there to speak God’s standard, no matter the cost.

But he didn’t stop at words. He also handled sacrifice. When a guilty Israelite brought a spotless lamb or goat to the tabernacle, the Levite priest was the one who killed it. He caught the blood, sprinkled it, and placed it on the altar. That blood was the covering. It didn’t erase the sin, but it "covered" it. It was a temporary solution that had to be repeated again and again. The priest was like a bridge, but one that still needed repairing. There needed to be innocent blood to forgive your sins, but one sacrifice was never enough, because people kept sinning.

This card's verse is Numbers 3:9:

"And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel."

The Levites were given entirely to this task. Their lives were surrendered to help others navigate the law. But no matter how many animals they offered, or how many people they examined, the problem remained. Sin wasn’t solved, it was only managed. What people needed wasn’t just another priest under the law. They needed a greater priest, one who wouldn’t just recite the law, but fulfill it forever.

The Blood That Speaks Better Things

Jesus didn’t come from the tribe of Levi, He came from heaven. God choose Him to be believers' High Priest. He didn’t stand at a distance and judge your condition. He stepped into your place and became your solution. He didn’t offer a lamb, He became the Lamb. At the cross, His blood didn’t just cover sins, it washed them all away. His blood wasn’t a shadow, it was the full substance. And now, instead of blood that cries out for judgment, we have blood that speaks mercy. “And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” - Hebrews 12:24.

The Levite priests returned people to their homes after they were cleansed. But Jesus goes further, He returns people to righteousness, peace, and fellowship with God. He doesn’t inspect you and say, “Be clean yourself.” He looks at you and says, “I’ve made you clean.” He doesn’t ask for a sacrifice, He is the sacrifice. The entire tabernacle system, the blood, the altar, the priest, the garments, all of it was a shadow pointing forward to Jesus. When Christ cried, “It is finished,” the priesthood of the law gave way to the new covenant of grace.

Believer, you don’t stand before a Levite, you stand before Jesus. And He’s not holding a list, He’s holding you. You’ve been declared righteous, not because of your offering, but because of His blood. You don’t have to walk around wondering if you’re clean enough. He has already made the call: redeemed, forgiven, holy. You’re not being examined anymore—you’re being embraced. The law spoke of what you had to bring. Grace speaks of what He already gave. And now, because of Jesus, you are wholly accepted, forever His.

Strategic Use In Gameplay

Levite Priest is a deceptively flexible utility card that fits beautifully into decks built around bounce effects, or Prophecy triggers. Whether you need to retreat a vulnerable ally, reuse an impactful creation effect, or just lay down a powerful 3/2 body early in the game, Levite Priest offers strong tactical flexibility at low cost.

Synergies and Plays:

  • Bounce Synergy: Recycle key Beings with on-create abilities or preserve high-value units under threat of exile or challenge.

  • Protect Your Lineup: Use its Prophecy to rescue an ally that's low on hope, reposition it for greater effect, or avoid losing it during a high-risk turn.

  • Strong on Its Own: If played with no other Beings, Levite Priest still brings great value with 3 strength and 2 hope, ideal for midgame board control.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I target Levite Priest with its own Prophecy?

A: No, you must target another friendly Being, not itself.

Q: What if I have no other friendly Beings when it's created?

A: Then the Prophecy simply fizzles with no effect, and you still get a 3/2 for 2 faith, solid stats on their own.

Q: Is it risky to play if I don't want to return a friendly being to my hand?

A: Absolutely, and this is the key to playing Levite Priest strategically.
